The Disappearance of Jack Heckel

Mystery Machine

Hi everyone! This is the Harry half of Jack Heckel, and I’m writing this after speaking with John. The other day, a van pulled up and the occupants asked me why Jack Heckel had disappeared from his own website. It was at that moment that I knew we were caught. For the record, we would have gotten away with it too, if it weren’t for those meddling kids and their dog.

Okay, that may not be exactly what happened. The truth is that early this year, John and I received a two book contract from Harper Voyager to write the second and third book in The Dark Lord series, The Darker Lord and The Darkest Lord, respectively. We’ve had a short deadline by our standards, and we are wrapping up the first draft of The Darker Lord in the next couple of weeks. We’ve been running around Mysterium University with Avery, Eldrin, and Dawn dealing with Avery’s epiphany and a great deal more. We are both looking forward to sharing with everyone.

In the meantime, we want to apologize for not being as active on the web. The writing will wrap up in the next couple of weeks, and we are both hoping to spend more time on social media.

I’ve been doing a few events in the physical world. I had a great experience with James River Writers doing a fairy tale panel earlier this year. In April, I attended the Hanover Book Festival and RavenCon, where I was able to meet Mercedes Lackey. I’m going to start June off by attending ConCarolinas in Charlotte, and I’m excited about meeting new people, answering questions, and telling some stories.

Anyway, John and I both want to say thank you to everyone for the support that we’ve received for both The Charming Tales and The Dark Lord. We are continuing our efforts to make the world of fantasy more amusing.
